Africa Cup 1968 / qualification

A total of 22 teams registered to take part in the 1968 Africa Cup in Ethiopia.

Defending champion Ghana and hosts Ethiopia were set for the finals, 20 other teams went into qualification.

These were divided into six qualification groups:

• Four groups of three: everyone was played against everyone with return legs.
• Two groups of four: the game was played in a knockout system with two legs.
