action

The film begins with shots of rain in a city. The camera follows the rainwater to its place of origin: Africa. The film shows the African continent in all its facets. You can see images of the African rainforest and its inhabitants, including ants and gorillas . Then the eruption of a volcano is shown, which makes it clear which forces shape the continent and act in its interior. You can see numerous images of various animal species and landscapes, including the Mount Kenya massif with its temperature fluctuations between day and night, flamingos hunted by baboons, the Nile , the Red Sea with its diversity, the Victoria Falls and the steppe with lions, zebras and numerous other animals. The central element of the film is water, without which the diversity of animal species and landscapes in Africa would not exist.

production

The film is one of the most elaborately produced nature documentaries of all time. Directed by Neil Neightingale and Patrick Morris, the film team shot for two years in many African countries, including Ethiopia , Tanzania , Kenya and Botswana . Previously, the TV series The Fantastic Journey of the Birds had already been experimented with 3D. The film was shot in high definition 4K .
