Aftermath is the second studio album by the Australian worship band Hillsong United . It was released on February 15, 2011.
background
In March 2010 it was announced that Hillsong United were working on their second studio album. The recordings took place in Alexandria, Arcadia and North Rocks ( New South Wales ), as well as in London and New York City . Christopher Stevens, James Rudder, Joel Houston and Michael Guy Chislett were responsible for the production of the album . Joel Houston told the Christian Broadcasting Network , the word Aftermath (German: aftereffect , result ) was negative connotations, the title was chosen because the aftermath of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ of hope, freedom and peace mean for mankind.

reception
criticism
Allmusic's Jared Johnson gave the album four stars out of five. He praised the musical diversity of the album, which is often lacking in the Christian music scene, and made comparisons with Chris Tomlin , Coldplay and Kings of Leon , highlighting the song Search My Heart as a highlight . Ryan Barbee from Jesus Freak Hideout was less enthusiastic about Aftermath , he awarded three stars and complained that the album offered nothing new in some places and loses creativity after about the first half.

Aftermath debuted in the Australian charts on February 27, 2011, reaching number four. In the United States , it debuted at number 17. In the Top Christian Albums, it was the group's second number one album. In New Zealand it reached number 12.

The singles Like An Avalanche and Search My Heart made it into the Billboard Hot Christian Songs. Like An Avalanche was Hillsong United's first single to reach a chart position there.
