Agave guerrerensis is a species of the agave genus( Agave ) in the subfamily of the agave family (Agavoideae). The specific epithet guerrerensis refers to the occurrence of the species in the Mexican state of Guerrero .

description

Agave guerrerensis has tufted, fleshy rhizomes . The two to three semi-fleshy leaves are slightly encompassing the stem at their base. Their obovate-lanceolate, pointed, entire leaf blade tapers gradually into a narrow, stalk-like, about 8 to 10 centimeters long and 2 millimeters wide basal part. It is 40 to 45 inches long and 6 to 8 inches wide. The white, downy-haired leaf blade is glaucous , uniformly green or covered with more or less purple spots towards its base. The remains of the leaf bases are broadly triangular, later become fibrous and about 4.5 centimeters long.

The bald inflorescence reaches a height of 120 to 150 centimeters and bears only a few flowers with short flower stalks . The shaft is dotted more or less purple at the base. The flower is about 67 millimeters long including the ovary . The ovary measures 3 millimeters in diameter. The bell-shaped perigone tube has upright or expanded lobes about 17 millimeters long.

Systematics and distribution

Agave guerrerensis is widespread in the Mexican state of Guerrero at an altitude of 1250 meters. It is only known from the collection of types.

The first description as Manfreda guerrerensis by Eizi Matuda was published in 1975. Gordon Douglas Rowley placed the species in the genus Agave in 1977 .

The species belongs to the subgenus Manfreda and is assigned to the Manfreda group there. Agave guerrerensis is poorly known, but hardly differs in its characteristics from Agave debilis .
