Benevento Province

Aglianico del Taburno is an Italian wine-growing region in the Campania region . The red and rosé wines from the province of Benevento have enjoyed the status of a Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC for short) since November 29, 1986 . In 2011 the denomination was raised to a DOCG .

Cultivation

The vineyards on the slopes of the 1,393 meter high Monte Taburno , which gives the area its name, are near the city of Benevento , about 40 kilometers northeast of Naples . The vineyards are located at an altitude between 135 and 600  m slm in the municipalities of Apollosa , Bonea , Campoli del Monte Taburno , Castelpoto , Foglianise , Montesarchio , Paupisi , Ponte , Torrecuso and parts of the municipalities of Benevento, Cautano , Vitulano and Tocco Caudio .

Manufacturing

The almost varietal wine must consist of at least 85% Aglianico grape variety . A maximum of 15% other red, non-aromatic grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the province of Benevento may be added.
