Tocco Caudio is a municipality in Italy in the Campania region in the Benevento province with 1464 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is part of the mountain community Comunità Montana del Taburno .

geography

The municipality is located about 20 km west of the provincial capital Benevento in the hill country on the east side of Monte Taburno . The neighboring municipalities are Bonea , Bucciano , Campoli del Monte Taburno , Cautano , Frasso Telesino , Moiano , Montesarchio and Sant'Agata de 'Goti .

history

In the abandoned old town

The place was badly damaged in several earthquakes , including 1962, 1980 and 1981. The old town has therefore been uninhabited since 1980.

economy

The inhabitants live mainly from agriculture and tourism. The municipality belongs to the Aglianico del Taburno wine region .
