history
There were several strong earthquakes in Apice as early as the 1930s and 1960s.
The historical part of Apice is now a ghost town. In a strong earthquake on November 23, 1980 , the city was abandoned by the 6500 inhabitants and was no longer rebuilt due to high costs. The community is considered a relic of the late 1970s, as a large number of items were not taken away. The mayor stayed there until 2007. In the historic Apice, a master hairdresser who lives outside runs a shop on the outskirts of the city that is not in danger of collapsing.
After the quake, Apice was rebuilt nearby and now houses most of the refugee residents in modern houses.
Attractions
In addition to some secular and sacred buildings in the new apice, the old palazzo and the church in the ruins of the ghost town are particularly worth seeing. These buildings are among the few buildings in the area that are not in danger of collapsing.
economy
The community lives mainly from agriculture.
