Castelvenere is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2644 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Benevento in Campania . The municipality is located about 20 kilometers northwest of Benevento and belongs to the Comunità montana del Titerno . The Calore Irpino delimits the municipality in the south.
history
The community is mentioned in the 14th century as Castrum Veneris . In 1688 an earthquake devastated the village. Since 1861 the municipality has been part of the province of Benevento.
