history

The origins of the municipality are in the ancient Roman city of Telesia . Around 850 the city was destroyed twice. In the period of the High Middle Ages - around 1000 - there was a bishopric here. Finally Telesia was destroyed again in the late 11th century. Reconstruction began. The tower of the early Norman cathedral is still preserved today. With the earthquake of 1349, not only was the reconstructed Telesia finally completely destroyed, today's Lago di Telese was also created.

Telese Terme has been known for its thermal baths since the end of the 19th century. Telese became an independent municipality in 1934. In 1991, after a referendum, the term term was added to the place name.
