Agnes Franz , actually Louise Antoinette Eleonore Konstanze Agnes Franzky , (born February 8, 1794 in Militsch , Silesia , †  May 13, 1843 in Breslau ) was a German writer .

Life

Agnes Franz was born as the daughter of a Silesian government and court councilor. After the father's death in 1801, the mother and her daughters moved to Steinau an der Oder .

In 1807 she had a serious accident with her touring car and remained physically handicapped and suffering for the rest of her life. The family moved to Steinach in 1811 and later to Oberarnsdorf to an uncle's estate. When the wars of freedom broke out , the family fled to Landeck . A short stay in Dresden in 1821 brought her the acquaintance of Johann Friedrich Kind , Pauline von Brochowska and Theodor Hell . Her friendship with Julie von Großmann (1790-1860), who later managed and published her estate, also dates from this time .

When his mother died in 1822, Franz moved in with her sister, who was married in Wesel / Rhein, because she needed support due to her handicap. She lived with her sister's family in Brandenburg between 1830 and 1837 . With her small legacy and great energy, Franz founded a virgin association and a work school for poor girls there in Wesel and also ran it.

After the death of her brother-in-law in 1837, Franz moved to Breslau with her sister and their four children . Here, too, Franz got involved and founded a school for the poor , which she also directed.

At the age of 49, Agnes Franz died on May 13, 1843 in Breslau, where her grave is also located in the cemetery of the Eleven Thousand Virgins Church .
