Aguirre is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Aguirre is the central place of the canton Aguirre in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Colomi in the province of Chapare and was previously part of the Municipio Sacaba . The city is located at an altitude of 3372 m on one of the tributaries to the ten kilometers northwest of Corani Lake , a nearly ten kilometer long lake with an area of about eighteen square kilometers.

Aguirre is located in one of the high valleys of the Bolivian Cordillera Oriental , halfway between the Altiplano and Chapare lowlands. The climate is temperate and a typical daytime climate , in which the mean temperature fluctuations between day and night are greater than between the cold and warm season.
The annual average temperature of the region is just under 11 ° C (see Colomi climate diagram), the monthly values fluctuate only slightly between 8 ° C in June / July and just under 14 ° C in November. The annual precipitation is around 550 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 15 mm, and a short humidity period from December to February with 90 to 120 mm monthly precipitation.

Aguirre is located 58 kilometers by road east of the city of Cochabamba , the capital of the department.
The Ruta 4 highway runs through Aguirre, with a length of 1,657 kilometers across the entire country in a west-east direction. The road begins in the west at Tambo Quemado on the Chilean border, passes Cochabamba, Sacaba and Colomi and reaches Aguirre after 435 kilometers . The road then continues in an easterly direction via Santa Cruz to Puerto Suárez in the Brazilian border area. Apart from the last 700 kilometers to the east, the road is paved throughout.

Due to the historically grown ethnic composition, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the Municipio Colomi 83.5 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
