Agustín Ezequiel Almendra (born February 11, 2000 in San Francisco Solano , Buenos Aires Province ) is an Argentine football player who is under contract with the first division club Boca Juniors .
Career
society
Almendra, who comes from the metropolitan area of the Argentine capital Buenos Aires , joined the Boca Juniors at the age of ten . After going through all of Bocas' junior teams, he was included in the men's squad for the first time during the 2017/18 season. He made his debut on April 16, 2018 in a 1-0 away defeat at CA Independiente . In the rest of the season he came to two more league appearances. In the following season, the midfielder became a fixture in the regular formation of the Juniors of coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto and his successor Gustavo Alfaro . He scored his first league goal on March 1, 2019 in a 3-1 away win at Unión de Santa Fe . In the 2018/19 season he was used in 15 league games in which he scored one goal and one assist.
In the 2019/20 season Almendra was only used in six league games, but was able to celebrate the championship title with the Boca Juniors.
National team
Almendra was part of the squad of the Argentine U17 selection , which took part in the U17 South American Championship in Chile .
He made his debut for the U20 national team on July 29, 2018 in a 4-0 friendly win against Venezuela . With this selection, he took part in the U20 World Cup in 2019 , where he only came for a short period.
