Agustin Amigo (born December 9, 1970 in Santa Cruz , Tenerife ) is a Spanish guitarist and composer .

Life

At the age of ten, Agustin Amigo began to play autodidactically by ear on his mother's old traveling guitar . At the age of thirteen he was already in the final of the Jugend musiziert competition in Valencia . He completed both the Spanish and German Abitur and moved to Germany to study chemistry at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau . Inspired by Pedro Guerra and Silvio Rodríguez , but also by The Edge and Andy Summers , he also began writing his own compositions at this time. In addition to his studies, he earned a little extra money with street music and appearances in cafés . In 1999 he completed his studies with a doctorate , got married and moved to Lörrach .

From the turn of the millennium to Agustin Amigo dedicated back to his guitar music and his compositions, and he built a home recording - recording studio on. As of 2005, the number of original compositions was sufficient to give concerts; these were Spanish texts, even accompanied by guitar. Several concerts, e.g. B. in Madrid , followed. In 2007 he met the guitarist Ulli Bögershausen and began to deal intensively with the fingerstyle technique. In 2009, Amigo released several videos on YouTube that were so successful that they were covered by Korean fingerstyle guitarist Sungha Jung , such as Amigo's arrangement of Video Killed the Radio Star . The positive feedback on its YouTube channel finally prompted Amigo to release its first CD Words I couldn't say in 2010, which received a positive response in the specialist press such as the magazine Akustik Guitar . Agustin Amigo released his second record If Only You Knew in 2011.

Since December 2010, Agustin Amigo has played almost exclusively acoustic guitars made by the guitar maker Andreas Cuntz , and seldom plays guitars made by Lakewood and James Goodall .
