Ahmed Mubarak Saleh gained his first international experience in 2014 when he won the bronze medal in the 400-meter run behind the Iranian Mehdi Zamani and Sergei Saikow from Kazakhstan at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou in 48.51 seconds and also won the Omani 4 times In the 400-meter relay he won the bronze medal behind the teams from Kazakhstan and China with a new national record of 3: 13.49 minutes. In autumn he took part with the relay at the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , where he finished sixth in 3: 07.71 minutes. The following year he retired from the Asian Championships in Wuhan over 400 meters with 46.90 seconds in the first round and finished sixth with the relay with a new national record of 3: 05.94 minutes. He then finished eighth over 400 meters in 46.82 seconds at the Military World Games in Mungyeon, South Korea, and reached seventh place in the relay in 3: 10.24 minutes. In 2017 he took fourth place in the individual competition at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku in 46.58 s and won the bronze medal behind the teams from Turkey and Pakistan in 3: 08.94 min. Then he secured the bronze medal over 400 meters behind the Indians Muhammed Anas and Arokia Rajiv at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar in 46.39 s and with the relay he was fifth after 3: 06.79 min. At the Arab Championships in Radès he also won the bronze medal in the individual competition in 47.05 s behind the Kuwait Yousef Karam and Mazen al-Yasen from Saudi Arabia and with the relay he won the silver medal in 3: 08.82 minutes behind Algeria. In addition, he finished fifth in the 200-meter run in 21.20 s. At the beginning of September he finished sixth at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with 48.46 seconds. He was then banned from the Omani Athletics Federation for four years for violating national doping guidelines.
