Aílton José Almeida , called Aílton (born August 20, 1984 in Hematita ) is a Brazilian football player on the position of a striker .

Career

Aílton began his active career as a professional footballer in 2000 with Atlético Mineiro , for whom he was under contract until 2004. During his time at the Belo Horizonte club , he was awarded twice. The first time he came to Tupi FC , he was then awarded to SC Corinthians Alagoano . In 2004 the Swedish football club Örgryte IS accepted the young Brazilian into their team. By his departure in 2006, Aílton had a record of 63 games and 26 goals scored.

On January 1, 2007, FC Copenhagen brought the Brazilian striker from Örgryte IS to their team for 22 million Danish kroner. Never before had a Danish club spent such a large sum on a player. Playfully, he drew attention to himself in his second game for FCK against their big rivals Brøndby IF when he scored his first goal for the club. With this goal he ushered in a new and successful era for the club. As a result, he became Danish champions with the traditional Copenhagen club in the 2006/07 season . After a few problems, Aílton could not build on his previous performance for a long time.

His big breakthrough came in the 2008/09 season , when he was a regular and an important part of the team from the start. That season he also scored a goal in the UEFA Cup against Manchester City .
With his two goals in qualifying for the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League against Wisła Krakow , he secured the participation of his new club APOEL Nicosia .

In 2012 he moved to Russia to Akhmat Grozny . Aílton then spent a few years on the Arabian Peninsula before joining Örgryte IS in January 2019 after being without a club for six months .
