Air West is a Sudanese airline offering chartered passenger and cargo flights, based in Khartoum and based at Khartoum airport .
history
Air West was founded in April 1992 and started operating in October of the same year. The owners are the CEO and company president Saif Omar, who owns 90% of the company, and Housam Saif, who owns the remaining 10%.
Air West was added to the list of operating bans for the airspace of the European Union and has since been banned from entering the airspace of Europe.
Destinations
The company offers domestic passenger transportation and international cargo charter flights. The company has contracts for aid flights etc. a. with the organizations WFP , UNICEF , ICRC and with the United States Department of Defense and the Government of Sudan.
The airline's hubs are the airports in Khartoum (KRT) and Sharjah (SHJ).

Accidents
- On February 3, 2005, an Ilyushin Il-76 cargo plane left Sharjah with a load of relief supplies for the province of Darfur in Sudan , with a planned stopover in Khartoum . When the cockpit crew first made contact with air traffic control in Khartoum, they reported fuel problems. The machine crashed due to running out of fuel 15 km from Khartoum, killing all seven crew members.
