Ilyushin (Ilyushin, Russian Илью́шин ) is a Russian aircraft manufacturer named after Sergei Ilyushin . The abbreviation for Ilyushin aircraft is Il ( Ил ).
Since the end of 2006 Ilyushin has been part of the newly established Russian aviation consortium OAK .
history
In 1931 Sergei Ilyushin, who designed his first gliders as early as 1924 (the sailplane AWF-21 "Moskwa" from 1925 also took part in the German Rhön gliding competition), began developing his first own aircraft as the head of a design department within the Central Design Office . the twin-engined bomber ZKB-26, later called the DB-3 , and the armored ground attack aircraft ZKB-55. On August 17, 1936, the department was officially renamed OKB ( Experimental Design Office ) Ilyushin.
In 1939, the commissioner for the aviation industry decided in order No. 704 that all Soviet fighter planes should bear the first letters of their designer and a serial number. The DB-3 became the Il-4 and the ZKB-55 became the famous Il-2 , which was built more than 36,000 times.
Towards the end of the Second World War, Ilyushin began to design commercial aircraft for the first time, initially the Il-12 , but he continued to design military aircraft. In 1947 the four - engined bomber Il-22 , built according to German models, was presented, which largely corresponded to the construction plans of the Heinkel He 343 (first project name He P.1068), but remained only a prototype. The twin-engine Il-28 bomber from 1948, however, proved a success, went into mass production and was used by many states. Another well-known model is the four-engine Il-18 from 1957, some of which are still in use.
In 1967 Ilyushin introduced the first Soviet long-haul passenger jet, the Il-62 . In 1971 the cargo plane Il-76 flew , followed by the wide-body airliners Il-86 and Il-96 .
Ilyushin is present mainly in Voronezh in the production plant VASO training aircraft Il-103 turboprop regional aircraft Il-114 , four-engine cargo jets Il-76 and four-engine long-haul aircraft Il-96 -300 ago. A small Il-112 military transport aircraft is also under development. Ilyushin had withdrawn from the development of the “ Russian Regional Jet RRJ ”, with the fighter jet manufacturer Sukhoi taking on the lead with some advisory services from Boeing .
