Three-sided view of the Il-112

The Ilyushin Il-112 ( Russian Ильюшин Ил-112 ) is a light transport aircraft from the Russian manufacturer Ilyushin that is currently being tested . It is intended to replace the Antonov An-24 , Antonov An-26 and Antonov An-32 with a payload of around six tons .

history

The history of the Il-112 goes back to 1994, when Ilyushin presented a new project study for a scaled-down version of the regional aircraft Il-114 . Different versions were planned, including a version as a transport aircraft and a variant for a regional airliner with a capacity for 40 passengers. The version of the military transport aircraft prevailed against the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-110 and the Sukhoi Su-80 in two competitions held by the Russian Defense Ministry in 1999 and 2003 .

The actual development of the military transport variant Il-112W began in 2003, but was stopped in 2011 in favor of the Antonov An-140 . The program was resumed in 2013. A total of 62 Il-112W are to be procured. The first flight of the machine was originally planned to take place in 2017, followed by a two-year test program so that production would start in 2019. According to information, series production will take place later in 2017. While civilian demand for up to 1,000 such aircraft was previously assumed, this forecast fell to just 100 by 2017. On November 27, 2018, Voronezh Aircraft Enterprise (part of the Aviation Transport division of United Aircraft Corporation) rolled out the first Il-112W prototype. In December 2018, a fuselage for stress tests was delivered to the aerospace research institute ZAGI , and taxiing tests with a prototype began at the end of the month.

No civilian variant should be offered until the military production is complete.

On March 30, 2019, the Ilyushin Il-112W had its maiden flight at the Voronezh airfield. Series production is carried out in Voronezh .

construction

The construction of the aircraft was radically changed compared to the Il-114. The Il-112 was designed as a cantilever high- wing aircraft with a T-tail. The central fuselage section, engines, propellers, shortened wings, technical systems and parts of the cockpit equipment were taken over from the Il-114. The cockpit with electronic flight instrument system (EFIS) with configurable multifunction displays (MFD) as well as engine display and crew warning system is designed for operation by a two-man crew . The Il-112W has a rear ramp through which the 8.40 m long, 2.40 m wide and 2.40 m high cargo hold is loaded.
