The Ilyushin Il-32 ( Russian Ильюшин Ил-32 ) was a Soviet glider of the design office Ilyushin .
development
It was developed and built in 1948 and tested in tow with an Il-12D that same year . The Il-32 had a take-off mass of 8400 kg, which, however, was almost doubled in the course of the tests. It was planned to transport this aircraft, intended for a seven-ton payload or 60 fully equipped soldiers, to their drop-off locations with Il-18 and Tu-4 .
The Il-32 was designed as a shoulder-decker and had a rigid nose wheel landing gear. Loading and unloading took place through a laterally opening front flap or a hinged rear gate, which could be equipped with ramps for the transport of heavy equipment .
The large-capacity transporters that were emerging at that time made the use of cargo gliders superfluous, which is why the model was not put into series production. A version planned as the Il-34 with two ASch-21 engines also remained just a project.
