Airi Suzuki ( Japanese 鈴木 愛 理 , Suzuki Airi ; * 1989 in Tokyo Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese violinist .

Career

Suzuki started playing the violin at the age of four. She played her debut recital in the spring of 2005 at the age of 15 in the Suntory Hall in Yokosuka with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and was named the most talented young violinist. She was a student of Kōichirō Harada since she was 10 years old . From 2005 Suzuki attended the Tōhō Gakuen University of Music in Chōfu as an honorary student, where she studied with Kōichirō Harada. She continued her studies with Krzysztof Węgrzyn at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media . At the 13th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznan , she took second place in 2006 at the age of 17, which gave her international attention. In 2012 she reached fifth place at the International Joseph Joachim Violin Competition, the world's most highly endowed violin competition. They also played a few concerts with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra , New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra Sendai , Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra , Philharmonic Orchestra Kanagawa , Symphony Orchestra Sapporo , Philharmonic Orchestra Hiroshima , the Filharmonia Poznańka (Posen) and the NDR Radio Philharmonic . An invitation to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam followed in 2012 .

Suzuki has been playing a valuable violin by Matteo Goffriller from Venice since the beginning of 2011 , which the "Yellow Angel" Foundation in Tokyo has made available to her on loan for two years. According to other information, it is a violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini from 1748 .

  • 2006: Second place at the 13th International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition
  • 2010: Special prize at the 7th International Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna
  • 2012: Title “New Master on Tour” at the International Holland Music Sessions
  • 2012: Fifth place at the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition in Hanover
  • 2015: Second place at the XXXI Valsesia - Musica International Competition
