Airwaves is a song by the German rapper Pashanim . It was released as a music video on May 14, 2020 , and was viewed approximately 3.5 million times on YouTube within three weeks . It entered the German charts at number 2. This makes Airwaves the most successful song by Pashanim to date and the commercial breakthrough of the rapper, who was previously more active in the underground. The beat is from DJ Stickle , a renowned beatmaker who has been active in the German rap scene for a long time and has produced, among other things, the album Staatsfeind Nr. 1 by Bushido .
title
The title of the song refers to the chewing gum of the same name from the Wrigley Company . The chewing gum brand's logo can also be seen on the cover. In an interview, Pashanim describes how this title came about: The text was finished shortly before the studio session, but a hook was still missing when he found a pack of chewing gum in his pocket.
content
The song Airwaves is about the little joys of everyday life. This includes motor scooters , branded clothing from Prada and Lacoste , sneakers from Nike , water tattoos, long sleeps and chewing gum. The text is written in the style of name dropping . Various places in Berlin are mentioned, including Möckernstrasse and in particular Mehringdamm with its characteristic buildings.
The beat is fast and similar in speed to the dance genre and house . A synthesis of German rap and dance music has so far only been observed in a few rappers, for example at Scotch BVT or Joker Bra .
Music video
The music video shows Pashanim and his crew in Berlin-Kreuzberg . At the center in addition to the crew members are a scooter -type Air Tech 50cm3 of the Asian manufacturer Adly and various soccer jerseys, including a strained over the handlebars of the scooter shirt of Zinedine Zidane . The video concept is based on the French rapper MHD . Pashanim himself directed the music video, Felix Aaron and Ibra Wane worked on the camera. The post-production led by Pashanim together with Felix Aaron.
