Aitor Ariño (born October 5, 1992 in Penarth near Cardiff , Wales ) is a Spanish handball player who is mostly used on the left wing .

The 1.84 m tall and 77 kg heavy right-hander came to handball through his father Sergi Ariño, who played for FC Barcelona from 1986 to 1988 , and started at the club when he was seven. In 2004 he was discovered by the youth scouts of FC Barcelona and signed for the U14 team. On February 6, 2010 he was nominated by the then head coach Xavier Pascual Fuertes for his first game in the ASOBAL league , in which he scored four goals against BM Cangas. In the following seasons he was mostly used in the second division, but also in ASOBAL. In 2011/12 and 2012/13 he was respectively champion of the Honor Plata division and the ASOBAL league. He made his international debut in the EHF Champions League 2012/13 . Since summer 2013 he has been a permanent member of the professional team, with whom he won the Spanish championship, the Super Globe , the Supercopa Asobal , the Copa ASOBAL and the King's Cup in 2013/14 . In the EHF Champions League 2013/14 he reached the Final Four . In the 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons he won both the championship, in the 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18 seasons and the King's Cup in 2018/19 and the EHF Champions League in 2014/15.

At the U-19 World Cup in Argentina in 2011, Aitor Ariño was named vice world champion and best playmaker in the All-Star team. For the Spanish national junior team, he threw 22 goals at the U-20 European Championship in 2012 and became European champion. After the failure of Cristian Ugalde , Ariño was surprisingly appointed by national coach Valero Rivera to replace the Spanish record goal scorer Juanín García in the squad of the Spanish senior team for the 2013 World Cup in his own country. This initially provoked some fierce criticism. At the tournament, the young left winger scored ten times in nine appearances and became world champion. In 2018 he became European champion with the Spanish team when he moved up to the squad for the second game. In 2020 he won the European Championship again.
