Alain Lucien Macle (born April 18, 1944 in Les Rousses , † March 21, 2020 in Pontarlier ) was a French ski jumper .

Career

Macle made his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament in 1963/64 . But after jumping behind the world's best in all competitions, at the end of the tour he was only 42nd overall. The Four Hills Tournament 1964/65 , in which he was only 75th, went even worse for him . However, this was due to the fact that he only competed in jumping on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf .

With the Four Hills Tournament in 1965/66 Macle competed in all four competitions for the first time and achieved a position in the top 30 for the first time with 25th place in Bischofshofen on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze . He finished the tour in 23rd place in the overall ranking. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1966 , Macle reached 47th place on the normal hill after jumps on 68.5 and 69 meters and 57th on the large hill after jumps on 72 and 72.5 meters.

After he finished the Four Hills Tournament 1966/67 and the Four Hills Tournament 1967/68 only in places 40 and 29 of the overall ranking, he started at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble . Macle jumped from the normal hill to 18th place, from the large hill to 17th place.

In the course of the Four Hills Tournament 1968/69 he landed with 23rd place in Oberstdorf and 24th place in Bischofshofen on his hitherto best individual placements during the tour. He was able to improve on the Four Hills Tournament 1969/70 that followed a year later , which was also his most successful tour in the course of his career. After landing in the top 20 for the first time with 19th place on Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck , he was able to achieve his best individual result at the Four Hills Tournament with 15th place in Bischofshofen . In the overall standings he landed in 18th place. In 1969 Macle won his first and only French championship.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Štrbské Pleso he was registered for the start of the normal hill, but was the only jumper not to take part in the competition.

In the Four Hills Tournament 1970/71 and the Four Hills Tournament 1971/72 he could no longer build on the successes from the 1969/70 season. Macle's last international appearance was at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo . There he managed to jump from the normal hill to rank 53 in the individual, before jumping from the large hill to rank 50.
