Albert Wolsky

Albert Wolsky (born November 24, 1930 in Paris ) is an American costume designer of French origin.

Life

Wolsky grew up in New York City , where he trained as a travel agent after graduating from college. He practiced this profession until the age of about 30, until Wolsky decided to work as a costume designer for stage plays on Broadway . In 1968 Wolsky was also responsible for the costume design of a feature film for the first time; it was the drama drama A Hatful of Rain , his film and television debut.

In his 40 years as a costume designer, Albert Wolsky was nominated seven times for an Oscar in the category Best Costume Design , and in 1980 and 1992 he won the Oscar. In 1999 he was honored by the Costume Designer Guild (CDG) with the Career Achievement Award for his life's work. Wolsky is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .

His longtime partner was the actor and dancer James Mitchell .
