Alberto Nessi

Alberto Nessi (born November 19, 1940 in Mendrisio , Canton Ticino ) is an Italian-speaking Swiss writer . His oeuvre includes poetry , prose and essays .

Life

Nessi comes from a humble background. His father died when he was fifteen. He was the first in the family to receive a higher education. He grew up in Chiasso , attended the teachers' seminar in Locarno , studied philosophy and literature at the University of Freiburg and was a teacher of Italian literature in Mendrisio for several years .

In addition to his teaching activities, Nessi also wrote for various newspapers in Ticino. He wrote radio plays and worked on television films for radio and television in Italian-speaking Switzerland . He was also active in the Ticino section of the Olten group , from its foundation until its dissolution in 2002.

Alberto Nessi made his debut in 1969 with the poetry collection I giorni feriali (The Days of the Week) . His first volume of short stories Terra matta was published in 1983 (first!) In German by Limmat-Verlag in Zurich . He is editor of the anthology of texts from Italian-speaking Switzerland Rabbia di vento (1986), which has also been translated into French ( Le Pays oublié ) and German ( border area ). In 2002 he was invited to the Medellín International Poetry Festival . In 2003 he received the Prix ​​Littéraire Lipp Suisse for his short book Fiori d'ombra , and in 2016 he was awarded the Swiss Grand Prix for Literature . His archive is located in the Swiss Literature Archive in Bern .

Nessi is married and the father of the daughters Antonia and Vita. He lives and writes as a freelance writer in Bruzella in the Mendrisio region.
