Albesa is a Catalan municipality in the province of Lleida in northeastern Spain . It is located in the Comarca Noguera .
Geographical location
Albesa is about 16 kilometers northeast of Lleida and about 16 kilometers southeast of Balaguer and on the left side of the Noguera Ribagorzana river just before its confluence with the Segre . The municipality borders with Algerri , Castelló de Farfanya , Menàrguens , Torrelameu , la Portella , Alguaire and Almenar .
Attractions
- Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary: This simple and large church was built in 1790 and contains a stone altarpiece from the 14th century. Predecessor churches in the same place are proven up to the 14th century.
- Romeral Roman Ruins: Several Roman villas were discovered and excavated in 1969. The Roman house is one of the most important Roman landowners in the interior of Catalonia.
