Albin Hans Sigo Proppe (born May 19, 1907 in Trier , Rhine Province , German Empire ; † November 29, 1990 in Kiel , Schleswig-Holstein , Federal Republic of Germany ) was a German dermatologist .

Life

Family and education

Albin Proppe, son of professor at the Trier Kunstgewerbeschule Hans Proppe (1875-1951) and the Elise was born Delling, devoted himself to the High School at the Real Gymnasium Trier the study of medicine at the University of Jena , the University of Cologne and the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main , where he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD .

The non-denominational Albin Proppe married Milly, née Pleitz, in 1933. The marriage had three children. Proppe died in November 1990 at the age of 83 in Kiel.

Professional background

One year after completing his doctorate, Albin Proppe got an assistant position with Erich Langer at the venereological department of the City Hospital Berlin-Britz . In the following year Albin Proppe switched to Hans Theodor Schreus at the Dermatology Clinic of the Medical Academy in Düsseldorf . In 1937 he completed his habilitation as a private lecturer for skin and venereal diseases, in 1939 he was promoted to senior physician and in 1943 to extraordinary professor . Since 1937 he was a member of the NSDAP . From 1939 to 1944 he did military service.

In 1950 he followed a call to an extraordinary professorship for skin and venereal diseases at the dermatology clinic of the medical faculty of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . Proppe, who headed the dermatology clinic from 1950 to 1974, was appointed full professor in 1953. In addition, he served as dean of the medical faculty in the 1955/56 academic year , and in 1975 he retired .

His research focused on radiation therapy , infant hemangiomas , venereology and epidemiology . Albin Proppe was elected honorary member of the Italian Dermatological Society, the Yugoslav Dermatological Society and the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology .
