The Albula-Landwasser Kraftwerke AG (ALK) is a Swiss power plant company, based in Filisur in the canton of Grisons . The ALK has been using the water from the Albula and Landwasser rivers since 1967 and operates two hydropower plants with an installed capacity of 64  MW in Filisur and 24 MW in Tiefencastel .

owner

The majority shareholder of ALK with a 75% stake was initially Elektrizitätsgesellschaft Laufenburg (EGL), whose stake was transferred to Axpo . Other participations are the Davos electricity company with 15.74% and the Canton of Graubünden with 5%. The remaining 4.26% are allocated to the concession communities Albula / Alvra , Bergün Filisur and Schmitten GR .

Filisur power plant

In 1967 the power plant in Filisur was completed and equipped with two vertical axis Francis turbines of 32.5 MW. The average annual production is 286 million kWh with an installed capacity of 65 MW. The equalization basins are in Bergün and Davos -Glaris.

Tiefencastel power plant

Headquarters Tiefencastel (ALK)

In 1989, the power plant in Tiefencastel with two vertical-axis Francis turbines of 12 MW also went into operation. It was designed for an output of 24 MW; the average annual production is around 103 million kWh. The equalization pool is located in Filisur. The head office is operated as a run-of-river power plant and uses the outlet of the Filisur head office and additional water below the Filisur head office. The system is operated fully automatically, is unmanned and remote-controlled from the control room of the Filisur headquarters.

Tischbach power plant

The Tischbach power plant is a mini hydropower plant that uses a flow turbine to generate electricity from the Tischbach water supply to the Bergün equalization basin. The system has an output of 220 kW and is expected to generate 0.55 million kWh of electricity annually. It was put into operation in June 2020.
