The Alcea biennis ( Alcea biennis , Syn .: Althaea pallida ) and Pale-hollyhock , pale-hollyhock , Pale marshmallow and Bleicher Marshmallow called, is a flowering plant in the family of mallow (Malvaceae).
description
Vegetative characteristics
The pale poplar rose is a perennial to perennial plant that usually reaches heights of 30 to 120, rarely up to 180 cm. The alternate leaves have deciduous stipules . The leaf blades, which are undivided to hand-shaped, are notched or notched at the edge. At least upwards, the plant is felt-like and rough-haired with star and tufted hair.
Generative characteristics
The flowering time of the pale poplar rose in Central Europe usually extends from July to September. The lateral, short-stalked, hermaphrodite, radially symmetrical flowers form, individually or in cluster- shaped cymes, a long, interrupted entire inflorescence . The six, in rarer cases up to nine outer sepals are triangular-egg-shaped and pointed. There are five sepals . The five petals are free, about 30 to 45 mm long and 25 to 30 mm wide, with deep margins and a greenish-yellow base and pale pink to light purple on the outside. In contrast to the garden poplar rose ( Alcea rosea ), the petals are always significantly longer than they are wide and do not overlap with their side edges when the crown is spread out flat. The numerous stamens have grown together to form a tube surrounding the stylus . The upper ovary shows numerous styles.
The fruit is a decay fruit that consists of as many parts as there are styles. The sharp-edged partial fruits are deepened lengthways on the back, hairy and especially wrinkled on the edge.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 42.
Systematics
The pale poplar rose is probably the tribe of the garden poplar rose (common hollyhock, Alcea rosea ), which is often cultivated in gardens .
ecology
The pale poplar rose belongs to the hemicryptophytes .
Occurrence
The species has its range from Central to Southeastern and Eastern Europe to West Asia . In the German-speaking area , the species occurs exclusively in eastern Austria.
In Austria the pale poplar rose occurs only very rarely in the Pannonian region of Lower Austria and possibly mostly only inconsistently on ruderal meadows above loess in the colline altitude . In Vienna, the pale poplar rose is believed to have died out and is otherwise considered to be critically endangered.
