Alchemilla sect. Pedatae is a section from the genus Lady's mantle ( Alchemilla )native to Africa.

features

They are perennial, herbaceous plants that form a monopodial rosette. They form vegetative and generative shoots. The main shoot of the first order is a rosette, while the vegetative shoots of the higher order initially form a long, creeping section on which a distal rosette then sits. These rungs are rarely provided with completely elongated internodes . The vegetative shoots have unlimited growth, the generative ones limited. The plants are diaxial.

The generative shoots are rather large and have many flowers that are in dichasias , less often in monochasias . Their bracts are like leaves.

The leaves of the rosettes are palmately lobed with seven to 13 lobes. The stipules are husk-like and almost completely fused with the petiole . In the bud , the leaf primordium is surrounded by the sheath of the next older leaf, but the leaf blade is always outside its own leaf sheath.

The outer sepals are almost the same size as the sepals . The goblet is slightly hairy. There are one to eight, rarely up to twelve carpels , the stigma is spherical to elliptical.

Occurrence

The section occurs in the East African mountains, on Madagascar and in West Africa (Cameroon).

Systematics

The section consists of two subsections, which were previously listed as subsections of the Longicaules section , but which Notov raised to a separate section in 2004. The lectotype of the section is Alchemilla kiwuensis Engler.

The two subsections are:

  • Pedatae with one or two carpels and restricted to East Africa.
  • Cryptanthae with three to eight (rarely twelve) carpels, distribution like total section.
