Kerstin Reisenhofer (born September 28, 1979 in Braunau am Inn ) is a former Austrian ski racer from Schalchen in Upper Austria . She became Junior World Champion in downhill in 1999 and Austrian State Champion in this discipline in 2000.

Career

Reisenhofer started for the ski club TVN Wels / Upper Austria. Her specialty disciplines were downhill and super-G .

She took part in three Junior World Championships. In 1997 in Schladming she took fourth place in the downhill, in 1998 she won the silver medal in the Super-G. In 1999 she became world champion in the downhill and also took third place in the Super-G and in the combination. In the 1999/2000 season she won the overall ranking in the European Downhill Cup . Due to the good performance in the European Cup, she was allowed to compete in the World Cup races in Innsbruck in February 2000 . In her very first race she won her first World Cup points in downhill as 21st. She achieved the best result a few days later in the descent from Lenzerheide in seventh place. In the same year she was Austrian downhill champion.

Reisenhofer was set back from numerous injuries in her career. In November 2000, she fell badly while training downhill in Lake Louise , tearing a cruciate ligament and injuring the meniscus in her right knee. In August 2003 she suffered another cruciate ligament tear in the same knee during Super-G training in Zermatt , which, however, was not operated on. During training in Copper Mountain in November 2003, a bone splintered off the right lower leg. Due to persistent knee problems, she ended her career in spring 2004 at the age of 25.
