Alex Huber (musician)
Alex Huber (* 1982 in Zug ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( drums ).
Live and act
Huber discovered drums at the age of ten; soon afterwards he received instrumental lessons at the Zug Music School. Between 2004 and 2008 he studied at the Lucerne School of Music with Norbert Pfammatter , Fabian Kuratli , Pierre Favre and Dejan Terzic ; Frank Möbus and John Hollenbeck taught him during a six-month stay in Berlin . He took master classes with Kurt Rosenwinkel , Dave Liebman , Jim Black and Tim Berne . He also stayed several times in New York, where Ari Hoenig and Ali Jackson taught him.
In Switzerland he founded the Sonar Ensemble with guitarist Dave Gisler and bassist Raffaele Bossard . From 2011 he lived in Berlin, where he founded the Chimaira quartet , which includes Philipp Gropper , John Schröder and Oliver Potratz . Huber also wrote for the band, with whom he released two albums since 2012. He also played regularly with the Irish singer Lauren Kinsella , the saxophonist Urs Leimgruber ( Lightnings ) and as a sideman in various projects. He can also be heard on albums with Japrazz , the Lucerne Jazz Orchestra and in a duo with Silke Eberhard . He has been living in Switzerland again since 2014.
