Alexander Conrad (born November 15, 1966 in Darmstadt ) is a German soccer coach and former player.
Conrad started his career in 1981 at Eintracht Frankfurt . He was German runner-up in 1982 with the B-Youth and German A-Youth Champion in 1983 and 1985. He also played ten U18 internationals in his last A youth season and two Bundesliga games.
In his first professional season in 1985, Conrad started eight times in a row as an 18-year-old before he was out for several months due to a serious knee injury. He then tore a cruciate ligament again and later a fractured tibia and fibula, so that he only made a few appearances in the 1st Bundesliga.
After a few changes to the 2nd Bundesliga, he came to FSV Frankfurt in 1992 , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga as a regular . Conrad played a total of 24 Bundesliga and 38 second division games and scored one goal.
Conrad's first coaching station was Usinger TSG from 1998 to 2001. From 2003 to the end of the 2006/07 season, Conrad was a coach at the upper division KSV Klein-Karben . From September 20, 2007 he was the head coach of SV Waldhof Mannheim and qualified in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg for the three-tiered Regionalliga Süd from the 2008/09 season. On June 7th, 2009 he was given leave of absence from SV Waldhof because the club wanted to realign the sporting area.
For the 2010/11 season Conrad took over the Hessian league club 1. FC Eschborn . For health reasons, he ended his engagement there at the beginning of March 2011. From February 2013, he worked as an assistant coach at the then third division Kickers Offenbach until the end of the 2015/16 season. In May 2017 the FSV Frankfurt signed Conrad as head coach. On April 13, 2019, Conrad was on leave after FSV Frankfurt was in acute danger of relegation after four defeats in a row. The sporting director Thomas Brendel took over the position as interim trainer.
