Alexander Jung (born August 1, 1978 in Füssen ) is a former German ice hockey goalkeeper who was active in the DEL for the DEG Metro Stars and the Hannover Scorpions , among others .

Career

Alexander Jung went through all youth teams at his hometown club EV Füssen and received his first appearances for the professional team of the club in the second highest division in 1995/96 . In 1998 the left-catching goalkeeper moved to Munich in the 2nd League South to ESC Munich and a year later to the upper league for TSV Erding . In the 2000/01 season , Jung received a support license for a DEL team for the first time . For the Eisbären Berlin he played 20 games this season with an average catch quota of 87 percent. In the play-offs , the goalie finally stood between the posts for SC Riessersee in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the following season Jung received a license to support the Munich Barons , but he was mainly used by their cooperation partner Erding.

For the 2002/03 season, the goalkeeper switched to the DEG Metro Stars , where he acted as a back-up for Andrei Trefilow . In the following four years, the number of his missions increased steadily and Jung developed into one of the best German goalkeepers. He has been a member of the national team since 2003 , for which he participated in the World Championships in the same year and in 2005 . Due to the poor perspective after the signing of Jamie Storr by the Metro Stars, Jung decided to leave the club and switched to the Hannover Scorpions . After the 2008/09 season , Jung ended his active career as an ice hockey player and worked as a civil engineer in his parents' company.
