Alexander Stuhlmann
Alexander Stuhlmann (born May 17, 1948 in Hamburg ) is a German manager.
Professional background
Stuhlmann studied law at the University of Hamburg from 1968 . In 1973 he passed the first state examination, in 1976 the second. He then worked in the legal department of the Hamburgische Landesbank until 1984 , after which he worked in the board secretariat (from 1992 as head of department). In 1996 he was appointed to the bank's board of directors and took over as chairman two years later. From 2003 to 2006 he was Chairman of the Board of Management of HSH Nordbank , which arose from the merger of the Hamburgische Landesbank with the Landesbank Schleswig-Holstein (LB Kiel). During his term of office, the bank built up risk-weighted assets, which have been a heavy burden since 2008 at the latest. In 2010, Stuhlmann refused to testify in connection with the HSH-Nordbank affair before the parliamentary committee of inquiry.
In July 2007 he took on the post of CEO of the ailing WestLB (details here ; he succeeded Thomas R. Fischer ) with the main task of preparing a takeover or a merger with a strong partner. Stuhlmann left the bank in March 2008; his successor was Heinz Hilgert . At the end of 2008, WestLB posted a loss of 2.8 billion euros.
In October 2010, Alexander Stuhlmann was appointed managing director of Licon Wohnbau by the Leipzig Regional Court. Since the beginning of 2008 he has also been chairman of the supervisory board of the office property company alstria office REIT -AG based in Hamburg.
Stuhlmann was a member of the Board of Directors of DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale until December 31, 2006 and again from October 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008 .
Stuhlmann is chairman of the supervisory board of HCI Capital AG . a. in control bodies of LBS Schleswig Holstein-Hamburg AG, Ludwig Görtz GmbH and Capital Stage AG. Until June 2010 he was a member of the supervisory board of BVV ( Insurance Association of the Banking Industry ).
Stuhlmann is also a member of the board of trustees of the “ Neighborhood Foundation ” of the Hamburg housing company SAGA .
