Alexander Ziegert

Alexander Ziegert (born May 23, 1935 in Maltsch , Lower Silesia; † December 30, 2018 ) was a German Roman Catholic priest , author and editor .

Life

Alexander Ziegert came as a refugee child to Zwickau , where he first after school for locksmiths trained. Then he decided to follow his priesthood calling. After study and practical training he received in 1962 in Bautzen the priesthood . He spent the chaplain years in Leipzig , Thammenhain and Wermsdorf . In 1973 he was appointed to the Ordinariate of the Diocese of Dresden-Meißen as diocesan chaplain. From 1975 to 1987 he was head of the pastoral office and diocesan adult chaplain. He then became pastor in Dresden - Pieschen and in 1993 cathedral pastor at St. Petri in Bautzen. In 1997 he was appointed head of the Catholic Office of the Saxon state government, which he held until 2005.
