Alexander zu Erbach-Schönberg

Alexander Ludwig Prince and Count of Erbach-Schönberg (born September 12, 1872 in Schönberg near Bensheim , † October 18, 1944 in Bensheim ) was the second and last Prince of Erbach-Schönberg and a registrar of the Erbach family .

Life and family

Alexander zu Erbach-Schönberg was the son of Gustav Ernst zu Erbach-Schönberg (1840–1908) and his wife Princess Marie Karoline von Battenberg . Alexander zu Erbach-Schönberg, who was a Protestant denomination, married Louise Elisabeth Hermine Erica Pauline, née Princess von Waldeck and Pyrmont (1873–1961), daughter of Georg Viktor Fürst von Waldeck and Pyrmont (1831–1893 ) on May 3, 1900 in Arolsen ) and the Helene born Princess of Nassau (1831–1888). The couple had four children:

  • Imma Princess of Erbach-Schönberg; she married Hans-Carl Freiherr von Dörnberg in 1923 and Neil Boyd Mc Eacharn in 1940,

  • Wilhelm Ernst Prince zu Erbach-Schönberg (1904–1946) (death in Soviet captivity),

After his father's death in 1908, he succeeded him in the hierarchy. A mandate in the First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse was associated with the state rule . He had represented his father in the Chamber since 1899. From 1911 to 1917 he was represented by his brother Viktor . With the November Revolution of 1918, the privileges of the nobility were abolished and his function as a class lord ceased to exist.
