Victor Sergej Heinrich Bruno Karl Prinz zu Erbach-Schönberg, in literature also Viktor and Sergius (born September 26, 1880 in König , † April 27, 1967 in Munich ) was a German diplomat and member of the Erbach family .

Victor zu Erbach-Schönberg was the son of Gustav Ernst zu Erbach-Schönberg and his wife Princess Marie Karoline von Battenberg . Victor zu Erbach-Schönberg, who was a Protestant denomination, married Countess Széchényi, Countess Széchényi zu Sárvár-Felsővidék (born February 6, 1888, † January 7, 1977 in Munich) in Somogyvár (probably in Széchenyi Castle ) on November 9, 1909 , who Daughter of Count Emmerich Széchényi zu Sárvár-Felsővidék (1858–1905) and his wife Maria.

Career

Victor zu Erbach-Schönberg did military service in the Prussian army from 1901 to 1909 and then became a diplomat. He was employed at the embassy in Vienna from 1914 to 1921 and had been in the diplomatic service from 1915. In 1917 he became secretary of the legation . From 1921 to 1923 he was acting counselor at the Kristiania legation . From 1923 to 1926 he worked as counselor at the embassy in Madrid and from 1926 to 1931 as counselor at the Stockholm embassy . From 1931 to 1936 he was reassigned to Vienna as counselor and from 1936 to 1941 he was envoy to the German embassy in Athens , where he succeeded Ernst Eisenlohr .

politics

From 1911 to 1917 he represented his brother Alexander zu Erbach-Schönberg in the First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . The representation ended on September 3, 1917. With the November Revolution 1918, the privileges of the nobility were abolished.
