Alexandra von Berlichingen

Alexandra Carola Harriet Freifrau von Berlichingen-Jagsthausen, born von Vultejus (born February 12, 1941 in Ludwigslust ), is a German interpreter , chairwoman and co-manager of the Jagsthausen Castle Festival . She is the widow of the former Federal President Roman Herzog .

Life

Alexandra von Berlichingen comes from the noble family of the Vultejus . She is the daughter of Colonel Hermann von Vultejus (1897–1953) and his wife Luise von Vultejus born. Busch (1914-2000). Her father was stationed in Ludwigslust in 1938 in the 14th Cavalry Regiment as Rittmeister and regimental adjutant . In 1945 the family fled to Hamburg. In 1949 her parents divorced. In the same year, the mother was married again to Mortimer von Falkenhausen (1892–1949), who, however, died a short time later. She spent several years in boarding school, one year at a college in London, another in Mexico. She worked for two years as an interpreter for English and Spanish in the Colombian Consulate General in Hamburg. In 1964 she married the officer Götz Wolf von Berlichingen (1935–1994), who was promoted to colonel in the Bundeswehr and was a member of a NATO staff. The marriage has two children.

She gave up her job, raised her two children and lived with her husband in Koblenz , Westerburg , Munich , Heidelberg , Ansbach and finally in Rossach Castle in Schöntal . The couple were friends with Roman Herzog and his wife Christiane Herzog .

After the early death of her husband in 1994, she took over the chairmanship of the Jagsthausen Castle Festival . The Jagsthausen Castle Festival was converted into a non-profit GmbH in 2001 , in which it became one of the three members of the management.

In summer 2001 she married the former Federal President Roman Herzog, who was widowed in 2000 and with whom she lived at Jagsthausen Castle . She has been widowed again since his death on January 10, 2017.
