Alfons Böcker

Alfons Böcker (born May 17, 1926 in Lünen , † July 18, 1985 in Cologne ) was a German diplomat and ambassador .

Life

After studying law in Würzburg and Münster , Alfons Böcker initially worked at the Hagen District Court and the Supreme Restitution Court in Herford before joining the Foreign Service of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1963.

His first positions were in Baghdad ( Iraq ) and Aden , there initially as Consul I class and from 1967 - after independence from Great Britain - as ambassador to South Yemen . In 1970 he was transferred to London and, after graduating from Imperial Defense College, worked at the embassy there until 1975. He then took over as head of the Middle East Department in the Foreign Office . In 1978 he came again to the embassy in London and was ambassador there . From 1981 to 1983 he was Deputy Head of the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic to NATO in Brussels. Alfons Böcker was then German ambassador to Iraq until his death.
