Alfred Groote

Alfred Groote (born October 8, 1812 in Heiligenhaus ; † April 15, 1878 ) was a Prussian judge and a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation .

Life

Groote studied law in Bonn , Heidelberg and Berlin . He was then initially a justice of the peace in Bacharach and later a judge at the Düsseldorf Regional Court .

From 1861 to 1867 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . He belonged to the left wing of the German Progressive Party . His attitude brought him into conflict with his employer and led to his dismissal from civil service.

In 1867 Alfred Groote was a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the constituency of Düsseldorf 4 ( city and district of Düsseldorf ). Despite his membership of the Progressive Party, he remained non-attached in the Reichstag. He stood in opposition to the politics of Otto von Bismarck , who advocated a small German solution under Prussian leadership, and voted no in the vote on the constitution of the North German Confederation.
