Alfred Klauhold

Alfred Klauhold (born May 17, 1818 in Hanau ; † December 12, 1890 in Hamburg ) was a German lawyer .

Life

Klauhold studied law at the University of Marburg and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD. He was a member of the Corps Teutonia Marburg . Klauhold entered the state service of the Electorate of Hesse early on , worked there in the Ministry of Finance and finally became a public prosecutor at the higher court in Rotenburg an der Fulda . The constitutional conflict of the Electorate of Hesse during Ludwig Hassenpflug's term of office prompted him to quit the service together with other constitutional officials and officers. Klauhold left Hessen and in 1856 succeeded Johann Christian Ravit as director of the Hamburg-Bremer fire insurance company in Hamburg. During Klauholt's time as director, Hamburg-Bremer Rückversicherung was founded as a subsidiary in 1868 . In 1882 he retired.

Together with Ludwig Aegidi , Klauhold published a collection of contemporary historical files from 1861 to 1871 under the title Das Staatsarchiv . In 1866 he published a pamphlet on Kurhessen under the father, son and grandson .

From 1862 to 1864 Klauhold was a member of the interim school board. From 1862 to 1871 he was a member of the Hamburg parliament and served as second vice-president of the Hamburg parliament in 1867 and 1868 .

In 1854 he married the painter of portraits , genre and landscape painter Caroline von der Embde (1812-1867), daughter of in Kassel making painter August von der Embde (1780-1862).
