Alfred Rauhaus

Alfred Rauhaus (born May 18, 1945 in Langendorf , Czechoslovakia ) is a German Reformed theologian , author and songwriter . He was pastor in the East Frisian Rheiderland and theological councilor of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Leer.

Life

Rauhaus grew up in Northern Hesse. After studying Protestant theology in Wuppertal , Tübingen and Göttingen (1964–1970) he made his vicariate in the Rheiderland. From 1973 he was pastor in Landschaftspolder and Ditzumerverlaat and from 1978 to 1990 pastor of the Reformed Church in Weener . Rauhaus received his doctorate in 1977 in Göttingen. The church leadership of the Reformed Regional Church appointed him to the Theological Council in 1991. Rauhaus held this office until 2005 and from 2006 was a freelance research assistant at the Johannes a Lasco library in Emden .

In his dissertation, Rauhaus examined the reformed Emden catechism of 1554 and published several articles on the Heidelberg catechism . In addition to his dogma-historical work, he devoted himself in practical theological writings to the Reformed liturgy, the practice of worship, the understanding of ministry and burial practice. Another focus is the church history of East Frisia.

Rauhaus was also known for his new composition of psalms for the regional part of the Evangelical Hymn book for the Evangelical Reformed Church from 1996, for which he composed more than 30 psalms between 1989 and 1994: Psalm 8, 10, 16, 17, 18, 19A , 22A, 29, 31, 43A, 44, 49, 52, 58, 60, 69, 74 (verse 1-6, 8, 9), 78, 83, 87B, 88, 94, 97B, 107 (verse 2, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13), 122B, 123, 125, 127, 128, 132, 133 (verse 1), 137, 139 (verse 9), 140 (verse 1 and 2) and 141.
