Ali Eckert

Ali Eckert (born Ralph Arthur Eckert ) is a German-American visual artist. Eckert is also a film director, film producer and screenwriter. He made several music videos in the 2000s . He lives in Berlin .

Life

Eckert attended the Upper Rhine High School in Wiesbaden . He then studied design at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences . After training as a photographer and studying communication design, Eckert worked as a video clip and advertising film director and as a producer.

The short film Wonderful! Swans are also coming ... from 1996 is one of Eckert's first publications. In 1998 Eckert worked as a co-producer on the short film Killer by Bernhard Landen with Heike Makatsch in the leading role. The short film Cable Unincorporated , which is set in the American Midwest, was made in 1999. In 2000, Eckert produced the music video for the band Die Toten Hosen's single Bayern with Peter Thorwarth . In 2001 Eckert produced the music video again with Peter Thorwarth for the single, Summer of Beatsteaks, from their album Living Targets . Together with Daniel Acht , he was involved in the 2002 short film Dark Ages as producer, director and screenwriter , which received international awards. For his first movie Video Kings , which was released in 2004 and despite a low budget, numerous well-known actors could be cast (including Fabian Busch , Wotan Wilke Möhring , Bela B. , Badesalz , Til Schweiger ), Eckert wrote the screenplay again together with Daniel Acht, with whom he also directed together. In 2011 Eckert began producing the US documentary Following the Ninth: In the Footsteps of Beethoven's Final Symphony in Chile , which was completed in 2013. Together with Monica Nancy Wick , he has meanwhile produced the documentary Brett vor'm Kopp , which shows the life of the skateboard pioneer Titus Dittmann in 2012 , with Eckert both directing and writing the screenplay.

Also in 2012, Eckert's “Photo Paintings”, large-format nudes on silk, were presented for the first time. a. with Esther Schweins , Eva Habermann , Julia Dietze , Lauren Lee Smith and Ursula Karven . In the following year Eckert presented his staged photograph “Foto-Noir” with Bettina Zimmermann and Antje Traue for the first time . In 2014, the exhibition "Foto Noir - Crime Scene" followed the Berlin Gallery Weekend with Florentine Lahme and Annabelle Mandeng . In the same year the exhibition "Midnight Art" followed at Jenny Falckenberg-Blunck in Hamburg.

At the international fair 'Art Market Budapest' in 2016 Eckert's triptych from his series 'Silent Silhouettes' was accepted into the 'German Art Fund Hungary'. In 2017 the group exhibition 'Mona Lisa Show' in the Hotel Mond Berlin followed (with, among others, Andy Warhol , Robert Doisneau , Thomas Ruff , SEO ), in 2018 the group exhibition 'Provoke' in St. Urban, Switzerland (with, among others, Elmar Batters , Pierre Molinier , Daido Moriyama , Pentagon Group )

Eckert's works can be found in international collections with the Zagoras Collection, Sander Collection, Neumann-Hug Collection and German Art Fund Hungary.
