Alison Jane Williamson (born November 3, 1971 in Melton Mowbray ) is a British archer . She took part in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , 1996 in Atlanta , 2000 in Sydney and 2004 in Athens . In Athens she won the bronze medal in the individual, as well as with the team at the World Archery Championships 2007 in Leipzig . Alison Williamson was also appointed to the British squad for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing .

Career

Alison Williamson began her competitive career at the age of seven. In 1989 she was appointed to the British national team. From the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , where she finished eighth in the individual competition, Williamson took part in all the Summer Olympics. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta , which took place four years later , she reached tenth place.

In Sydney at the 2000 Summer Olympics , Alison Williamson was defeated in the round of 16 by the eventual Olympic champion Yun Mi-jin from South Korea, although Williamson could achieve her highest result of the tournament in this duel. Alison Williamson won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . In the round of the last eight she defeated the Atlanta silver medalist He Ying , in the semifinals she was defeated by the eventual Olympic champion Park Sung-hyun from South Korea. In the duel for bronze, Williamson defeated Yuan Shu-chi from Taiwan . In 2010 Williamson won the silver medal in the team competition with the recurve bow at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi .
