Aljonna Möckel
Aljonna Möckel , b. Bach , (born May 10, 1941 in Moscow , Soviet Union ) is a German translator and writer .
Life
Aljonna Möckel is the daughter of the music professor and writer Erwin Johannes Bach , author of the textbook “The Complete Piano Technique”, composer and rewrite of works by Jessenin and Shchipachev . As a toddler, she barely survived the Leningrad blockade in 1941 , before the family who emigrated to the Soviet Union , which also included two older brothers, reached Tashkent in Uzbekistan via various escape stations . In 1947 the family returned to Berlin.
Aljonna Möckel studied Slavic and Romance Studies at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena from 1959 to 1963 . She was a research assistant at the University of Jena for one year and from 1964 to 1966 was an editor at the Volk und Welt publishing house . She has been working as a freelance translator in Berlin since 1968 , originally to have time for her disabled son Dan.
Numerous novels and short stories of SF literature, e.g. B. by the Strugazki brothers , she translated from Russian, as well as many children's books ( Bulytschow , Sutejew ) and works by well-known authors such as Evtushenko , Rasputin , Belov , Makanin , Krupin , Grekowa . Together with her husband, the writer Klaus Möckel , she also wrote her own books, so under the pseudonym Nikolai Bachnow eight volumes of a follow-up series to the " Magician of the Emerald City " by Alexander Wolkow were created .
In recognition of the quality of her work, Aljonna Möckel received the translation award from the Aufbau Verlag Berlin in 1989 .
