Allan Vogel

Allan Vogel (* 1944 ) is an American oboist and music teacher.

Vogel studied at Yale University with Robert Bloom and, as a Fulbright scholar, with Lothar Koch in Berlin and with Fernand Gillet and Josef Marx . He debuted in the Tully Hall of the Lincoln Center with the New York Chamber Orchestra , the first oboist he was. He has also performed as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra on tours in Europe, Carnegie Hall , Kennedy Center and Boston Symphony Hall , with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields , the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic is a frequent guest of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and played at the last state dinner of the Bill Clinton presidency in the White House .

Two solo albums by Vogel have been released on the Delos label : Bach's Circle with Baroque oboe sonatas and Oboe Obsession with virtuoso works of Romanticism. With Helmuth Rilling he recorded Bach cantatas in Germany . In addition, Oboenkonzerte include Richard Strauss ', Ralph Vaughan Williams ' Dave Amram and Henri Lazarofs to his repertoire. Vogel is a board member of the American Bach Society and a member of Bach's Circle Baroque Ensemble . He teaches at the California Institute of the Arts , the University of Southern California and the Colburn Conservatory of Music .
