Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) (German: Alliance against plastic waste in the environment) is an international, non-governmental, non-profit organization of international corporations based in London .

According to the company, the aim is to promote solutions that reduce and avoid environmental pollution from plastic waste , especially in the oceans. AEPW works with the World Economic Council for Sustainable Development as a strategic partner and the United Nations Environment Program .

Initiatives

  • Cleaning rivers that wash plastic into the sea : In a first step, the alliance wants to support the Renew Ganges project of Renew Oceans (Renewlogy) from Salt Lake City , which collects rubbish on the Ganges in India and is supported by the National Geographic Society (NGS) becomes. Another nine rivers are to follow.
  • Development of infrastructure for waste collection and recycling, for example with cities with high amounts of waste, for example in Indonesia . A collaboration on the “STOP Ocean Plastics” project by Borealis and SYSTEMIQ is planned in Jembrana (Indonesia).
  • New recycling techniques: for example, the German chemical company BASF is leading the way with the chemical method developed in-house from the “ChemCycling” project, which aims to convert waste that previously could not be recycled back into raw material.
