Allsvenskan (chess) 1951/52

The Allsvenskan 1951/52 was the second Swedish team championship in chess ( Allsvenskan ).

mode

The participating teams were divided geographically into the four zones norra (north), östra (east), södra (south) and västra (west). The tournament was played in the knockout system, with the winners of the four zones being determined first.

Attendees

Each district was allowed to provide a team (either a district selection or a club team), the three largest districts ( Stockholm , Gothenburg and Mälardalen ) were entitled to report two clubs, which they made use of. A total of 20 teams took part (14 district selections and 6 clubs), which were distributed to the zones as follows:

3rd round

With the selection teams from Södra Västerbotten and Norrbotten, only two teams were assigned to the northern zone , so that their comparison decided directly on the entry into the final round. Norrbotten landed a clear victory and, like last year, reached the final round. One game of the competition was abandoned, but its outcome was no longer important.

1 round

In the first round, Wasa SK won the match played by telephone against Gotland's selection as well as Gästrikland's selection against Västerås ASK. In the comparison of the teams from Ångermanland , the north won, while Hälsingland's selection against Medelpad's selection, which had been clearly defeated in the spring of 1951, only narrowly won.

2nd round

While Wasa SK gave the guests from Gästrikland no chance, only the last two games ended in the competition between Ångermanland and Hälsingland.

3rd round

With another clear win against Hälsingland the Wasa SK reached the finals.

1 round

In the first round, Stockholm's Södra SS achieved a clear victory against Värmland's selection, while the competition between Örebro SS and SK Kamraterna Göteborg ended in a draw, which enables both teams to advance to the second round. The defending champion, the selection from Dalarna , reached the second round with a bye.

2nd round

Both competitions were fierce. The match between SK Kamraterna Göteborg and Stockholms Södra SS ended in a draw, and as the Gothenburg team had already drawn in the first round, they had to be eliminated.

3rd round

The decisive competition to reach the finals was also close, but in the end saw the defending champion victorious.

1 round

In the first round the SS Manhem clearly prevailed in Västergötland , while the competition between the national teams from Nordskåne and Blekinge was fierce and two games were even canceled. As the third team, the selection from Skåne reached the next round by a bye.

2nd round

Manhem managed the next big win against Skåne, while Blekinge advanced with a bye.

3rd round

Against the selection from Blekinge, the SS Manhem gave only a single draw and thus reached the finals.

Semifinals

Both club teams and the two district selections met in both semi-final pairings. In both competitions, the away teams prevailed with Wasa SK and the defending champion from Dalarna.

Although the Wasa SK lost on the first two boards, they won 6: 4 and became Swedish team champions.
