Aloe antsingyensis is a species of the genus Aloes in the subfamily of the Affodil family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet antsingyensis refers to the occurrence of the species near Antsingy in Madagascar.

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe antsingyensis grows in a stem-forming manner. The prostrate trunk reaches a length of up to 100 centimeters and a diameter of 1 centimeter. The linear leaves are scattered along the shoots. The cloudy green leaf blade is 20 to 50 inches long and 2 inches wide. The teeth on the leaf edge are up to 1 millimeter long and 10 millimeters apart. The striped and white-spotted leaf sheaths are 2 to 3 inches long.

Inflorescences and flowers

The simple inflorescence reaches a length of 10 to 12 centimeters. The loose, cylindrical grapes are 4 to 10 centimeters long and consist of 15 to 30 flowers. The pointed bracts have a length of about 8 to 10 millimeters. The red, green-tipped flowers are on 8 to 10 millimeter long peduncles . The flowers are about 20 millimeters long and rounded at their base. At the level of the ovary , the flowers have a diameter of about 8 millimeters. They are slightly narrowed above this and then slightly widened towards the mouth. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 3 to 4 millimeters. The stamens and the style protrude up to 1 millimeter from the flower.

The first description as Lomatophyllum antsingyense by Jacques Désiré Leandri was published in 1935. Leonard Eric Newton and Gordon Douglas Rowley put the species in 1996 in the genus Aloe .
